& Other Advisors Who Work with Them Faculty | Schedule | Registration | Location | Sponsorship | Audio Package | Whether you call it clean energy technology, green investing, renewable energy -- or simply the cleantech sector -- it’s attracting more and more attention from middle-market investors. Once the exclusive province of venture capital, cleantech has come into its own. The sector is big enough, the management teams savvy enough, and the company track records impressive enough so that providers of private equity are jumping in -- with aggregate investments that have grown to $11.5 billion last year, up from $328 million in 2000. All with good reason. Increasing prices of traditional fossil fuels, and continued development of clean technologies are making clean energy and clean technologies economic in their own right. The Obama administration is also putting a raft of incentive programs on the table that bode well for the sector’s future. The economic stimulus package includes funding for alternative energy such as wind and solar, tax credits for installation of efficiency software, and other highly favorable provisions for cleantech investors. In short, cleantech has become not only socially responsible, but also financially responsible. In fact, the sector would be highly attractive even if the new government programs didn’t exist. Today, everybody is talking about global climate change, rising energy prices, uncertain fossil fuel supplies, and the road to energy independence. So any investor would be hard pressed to identify another sector undergoing such fundamental evolution and offering such opportunity. But there’s a lot to sort out since the first cleantech boom in 1995 when utilities were deregulated. Back then, technologies that helped utilities improve the efficiency of their operations were the rage, but the sector never really gained traction beyond utilities. Now, you have alternative fuels, wind, geothermal, hydro power, solar, energy storage, biomass, smart grids, and much more. And because they’re all at different stages of development, it’s not particularly easy to choose your investment focus. Unless you first attend The Capital Roundtable’s NEW MasterClass™ On PE Investing in Cleantech & Renewable Energy Companies.
On October 29th in New York, we’ll bring you the insight you need to find investment success in the cleantech market.
